EMass baseball: Catholic Memorial’s Mike Gemma headlines Players of the Week

Mike Gemma, Catholic Memorial — In two starts last week, the junior righthander delivered two complete-game shutouts against teams ranked in the Globe’s Top 20. Gemma struck out six last Thursday in a 1-0 win over Lincoln-Sudbury, and topped that performance striking out 12 against BC High on Wednesday in a 3-0 victory.

Anliel Gonzalez, Boston English — The junior belted two home runs for the Eagles in a 12-0 Boston City League win against Madison Park.

Mark Mahoney, Cohasset — The Skippers scored 13 unanswered runs in a 13-5 win over Scituate, including seven in the sixth inning that was capped off by the senior’s three-run homer.


Jack McElroy, North Andover — The senior collected two hits in three at bats in the Scarlet Knights’ 3-2 win over Tewksbury. Then he went 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs in a 9-4 win against Billerica the next day.

Henry Weycker, Wellesley — It was a spectacular performance on the mound for the senior in a Bay State Conference matchup against Brookline. The lefthander struck out 13 Warriors in six innings in a 5-3 victory.
