
After finishing a second consecutive undefeated regular season campaign, the Boston College women’s lacrosse team got off to a near-perfect start in the postseason.
The top-seed and tournament host Eagles shut out eighth-seeded Louisville in the first half and rolled to a 15-4 victory to open the ACC Tournament on Wednesday.
Jordan Lappin and Cara Urbank netted three goals apiece and Abbey Ngai made 13 saves on 17 shots in the first of four quartefinals at Alumni Field. Juniors Sheila Rietano and Kate Taylor each added two goals in the effort. Reigning Teewaraton Award winner Sam Apuzzo tallied one goal and one assist and won 10 draws at the faceoff X.
Boston College (18-0), which is also the top-ranked team in the nation, will face No. 4 Syracuse (15-3) in the tournament semifinals Friday at 5 p.m. The ACC Championship is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
