South Shore Hospital celebrated the opening of its new critical care unit with a ribbon-cutting.

South Shore Hospital, in Weymouth, marked the opening of its Richard and Joann Aubut Critical Care Unit with a ribbon-cutting in late September. The $62 million facility, at 55 Fogg Road, was “more than 20 years in the making,” said Christopher O’Connor, a senior vice president of the hospital foundation. The old critical care unit on the sixth floor of the hospital is being renovated into a 24-bed patient care unit and is scheduled for completion in late 2018.

Untold Brewing , in Scituate, celebrated its opening at 6 Old Country Way on Oct. 13. Kristen Greene said that she and two other co-owners “had very different paths that led us to craft beer” and that their name for the brewery was inspired by a quote from Maya Angelou. Greene says the 5,000-square-foot building, formerly a schoolhouse from 1852, will offer 12 tap lines and have seating for 100.

Thayer Academy, in Braintree, has announced it will introduce a fifth-grade level for the next academic year. Ted Koskores, headmaster, said school officials “have often been asked” by parents about adding a fifth grade. The school expects to enroll 12 students for the fifth grade and hire an additional teacher. Currently, 188 of 700 enrolled students at Thayer attend the middle school, with the others attending the high school. Tuition for the 2017-2018 year is $45,850.


Father Bills & MainSpring in Brockton was awarded $100,000 by the Home Depot Foundation to construct 23 housing units in the city for “individuals experiencing homelessness, including 12 apartments for military veterans,” said John Yazwinski, its chief executive.

Just For You Nutrition Store has opened a location in Kingston. The shop at 101 Kingston Collection Way will offer a variety of protein powder, vitamins, organic foods, and more. The chain also has stores in Carver and Sagamore.
