Child killed in Hampton, N.H., fire identified as 7-year-old

New Hampshire officials Saturday identified the child who died in a three-alarm house fire earlier this week in Hampton as 7-year-old Nova Demanche.

Demanche died of thermal and inhalation injuries from the fire, and the manner of death was accidental, according to a statement from the state fire marshal’s office.

Seven other people escaped from the fire that started early Wednesday morning at 32 Thorwald Ave.

Several attempts were made to rescue the child, but firefighters could not get inside. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
