Christy DeSmith is the assistant arts editor, overseeing visual arts, classical music, architecture, and more. She joined the Globe in 2019. Before that, she edited arts coverage for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. A native of Circle Pines, Minn., she graduated from the University of Minnesota and is a proud first-generation college graduate. She lives in a highly musical household in Newton with her husband (a conductor) and her daughter (an eager young pianist). When she isn’t working, she enjoys running, reading, theater-going, and indulging her diverse musical tastes.
