Four teens were arrested in Revere after allegedly carjacking a luxury sedan in Burlington Monday night and then driving some 20 miles before being involved in a rollover crash that left the driver of a pickup truck pinned in his car early Tuesday, officials said.
Burlington police were originally alerted to an armed carjacking at an apartment building on Beacon Street at 7:23 p.m. on Monday where they found the victim “visibly shaken,” police said in a statement.
“He had just pulled into his parking space after arriving home from work and was checking his email on his phone when a man opened the driver’s side door, put a gun in his chest, and forced him from the vehicle,” the statement said.
The victim was not physically injured.
The vehicle, a 2018 A4 Audi sedan, was reported by Revere police to have crashed on Route 1A southbound at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday after hitting a truck in traffic, according to Revere police.
“The operator of the truck was trapped in the vehicle, Revere fire was able to extract him and [he] was transported to the hospital. Injuries appear non-life-threatening,” Revere police Captain Amy O’Hara wrote in a statement.
O’Hara said the Audi sustained heavy damage, but three juvenile males were taken into custody by Revere police on scene.
Another teen tried to flee on foot northbound on Route 1A but police arrested him minutes later, O’Hara said.
No further information about the juveniles was immediately available, but two BB guns were recovered at the crash site, police said.Sabrina Schnur can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow her on Twitter @sabrina_schnur.
