In a statement, Boston police identified the suspect as Joshua Enos of Lynn. The department’s Fugitive Unit nabbed Enos around 3:20 p.m. Thursday, the release said.
He faces charges of armed robbery, armed kidnapping with serious bodily injury, and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, according to the statement. Two additional suspects remain at large.
Enos was arraigned Friday in Boston Municipal Court, where a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He was ordered held on $25,000 bail with orders to stay away from the victims and witnesses if he posts that amount, according to Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins’s office.
A lawyer for Enos couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
According to a police report filed in the case, Enos’s parole officer identified him from surveillance footage and told investigators Enos had been nervous for the past week. The parole officer indicated that “Enos has cried on one occasion and stated several times he wanted to leave Massachusetts and move to Texas,” the report said.
The robbery victims were all men in their 20s who gave Amherst and Pembroke addresses, records show.
Here’s how the robbery reportedly went down as Boston closed the door on 2018:
“At about 10:00 PM on Monday, December 31, 2018, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery,” the release said. “On arrival, officers spoke to the victims who stated they were walking through the Public Gardens when they were approached by three unknown males. The males demanded the victims’ money before stabbing one of the victims. The victims eventually handed over their property to the suspects.”
And then, police said, “the suspects grabbed the male who had been stabbed and forced him to withdraw an undisclosed amount of US Currency from an ATM in the area. The suspects fled the area on foot. The victim was treated at a local hospital for a non-life-threatening stab wound.”
Enos is slated to return to court Feb. 18.Travis Andersen can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow him on Twitter @TAGlobe.
