These patterns and colors were big on the runways, and they’re wearable for New England, too.

With reboots all over TV and slow cookers enjoying a renaissance, it’s no surprise that designers are looking to the past for inspiration, referencing the strong-shouldered styles of the ’80s. If the ’70s are your decade of choice, rust is the new black. And if both of those looks make you want to hide, outerwear this year is oversize and layered. Finally, for those firmly entrenched in the classics, plaid and animal prints are plentiful — consider them in creative colorations and pairings. Here’s a look at three wearable hits from the runways.
